Save On Heating Bills And Go Solar

Why Choose Solar

  • Most of the energy we use in our homes and cars come from "fossil fuels" such as oil, coal and gas. Even electricity is mainly generated by burning fossil fuels at the power station.
  • When we burn fossil fuels, large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) are released into the atmosphere, wrapping around the planet and acting like a huge greenhouse, trapping the suns heat and leading to global warming.
  • Global warming is the change to the worlds climate which is leading to flooding, famine and water shortages.
  • Unlike fossil fuels, renewable energies such as solar won't run out and are comparatively benign to the environment. Installing solar heating in our homes gives us the opportunity to minimise environmental impact.

Does the UK get enough sun

  • Contrary to popular belief, the UK has a plentiful supply of solar energy, amounting to over a thousand kilowatt hours each year per square meter. Although this is often diffused through clouds so the radiation does not feel as hot as direct sunshine, but this energy can still be collected by a solar water heating system.
  • Solar water heating systems collect both direct and diffused sunshine and should provide over half the annual hot water demand of a normal domestic house.
  • During the summer months, virtually all of the domestic hot water requirement can be supplied from the solar system; this reduces to perhaps half in spring and autumn, but even in the winter 25% or more can still be delivered from solar energy.
  • Today, there is more than enough solar energy reaching the earth to satisfy our global demand many times over, it is only a matter of us being smart enough to harvest this resource.
